LASTING SOLUTIONS FOR DAMAGED OR MISSING TEETH
At Valley Ranch Dental, our goal is to provide dental procedures that are undetectable. We provide dental crowns and replace existing dental crowns with restorations that look and feel like your natural teeth. When damage is extreme, dental crowns can make the smile look like new. This procedure can be used for repairing severe dental problems — even missing teeth.
CAPABILITIES OF DENTAL CROWNS
Crowns are a reliable treatment option for major dental problems. Dental crowns can be used to repair damage from disease, wear and tear, or accidents. The materials used in dental crowns include porcelain or porcelain bonded to gold. The higher strength of porcelain and gold materials is recommended for more serious dental problems. Dental crowns provide a long-term solution to many dental problems.
Dental crowns offer benefits for:
-
Missing teeth
-
Broken teeth
-
Misshapen teeth
-
Functional chewing problems
-
Natural-looking teeth
We often recommend dental crowns for patients with unexplained pain in their back teeth with fillings. This is often caused by hairline cracks in the chewing surfaces of the teeth. Placing crowns on these teeth relieves pain and restores the full function of the teeth. In front teeth, porcelain crowns can be used to repair problems when porcelain veneers are not a good option. Crowns can also be used to strengthen teeth with root canal fillings and prevent breakage.
THE DENTAL CROWN PROCEDURE
You must visit our office twice to get dental crowns. During the initial visit, we will remove any decay from the tooth, shape the tooth, take measurements for the permanent crown, and determine the type of material that is best for your new restoration. In the meantime, a temporary crown is fitted on the tooth.
Your permanent dental crown will be made in a color that best matches your natural teeth. When the permanent crown is ready, you will return to our office for a subsequent visit. During this visit, we will remove the temporary crown and fit and adjust the crown to your tooth. The dental crown is then cemented in place to provide you with a strong and natural-looking restoration.
